Two from Eastland take first in powerlifting competition, online

LANARK – A pair of Eastland High School power lifters took home top honors in an online edition of the Powerlifting Nationals.

Eastland’s Cadin Colehour took first place in the 220-pound weight class with a 1,250 total.

Eastland’s Eli Dertz won the 275-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,480.

The Good Athlete Project’s online powerlifting tournament was put together in the spring when COVID-19 wiped out in-person powerlifting competitions around the nation.

Athletes recorded video of themselves doing a squat, bench press and deadlift and uploaded the video.

Winners were announced this week.
