Straw sculpting contest has new works, golden oldies

MT. MORRIS —The Fifth Annual US National Straw Sculpting Competition opened Aug. 7 and remain on display through Aug. 23 on the Mt. Morris Campus.

Five new sculptures are entered in the competition this year. All are built by returning sculptors/teams; Steve and Michele Lentz, Doreen White (Polished Hair & Nails), Chris, Cecilia and Ellen Mann, Danica and Mark Rogers, and Fran Volz.

Straw Sculptures from previous years representing the same sculptors, and Mt. Morris Big Build, will also be on display, all with spacing for comfortable social distancing.

Voting is on-line at through 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23.

There will be no StrawFest day, normally scheduled for the closing weekend. Smaller events may be announced.
