MOUNT CARROLL — Area residents are invited to participate in this year’s Carroll/JoDaviess County Cancer Relay for Life luminaria event.
“Because of coronavirus we will hold a ‘virtual’ luminaria ceremony in conjunction with WCCI Radio, 100.3 FM, Savanna,” said Bev Lundquist, publicity director for the Carroll/JoDaviess Co. Relay for Life Committee. “This event will be held sometime this coming fall. More details will be announced as they are made.”
During the Luminaria ceremony, names of those who have had a luminaria purchased in their name will be read interspersed with music during this special program.
“Help us to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has taken too much,” Lundquist said. “You can keep the flame of hope lit by dedicating a luminaria in memory of someone lost to cancer or in honor of someone still fighting or who has beaten the disease.”
Anyone interested in purchasing a luminaria ($10) in honor/memory of someone should contact Lundquist at 815-244-9684.
