CHADWICK – Terry Ann (Schave) Price, age 74, knew from a young age that she was different and had to deal with a developmental disability, but she also understood through the years, that living independently and being strong-willed, could be her greatest joy.
At the age of 74, Terry passed away peacefully at the Lena Living Center, Lena. She was born Sept. 19, 1945 in Moline, the daughter of Forrest and Margaret (Herbert) Schave.
Terry had three brothers that watched out for her well-being, as she grew up on the 100-year family farm in Hampton Township, Rock Island County. She watched her mother fight to get her the best education, and after attending the Oak Ridge Country School, graduated from the Moline Public High School with the Class of 1964.
In 1967 her family moved to Fairhaven Township near Chadwick, where they continued to own and operate a farm. Over many years, Terry worked at the Village of Progress in Oregon, and then, the Rolling Hills Progress Center in Lanark, retiring in 2007.
She loved living in her own home and working to support herself. Quite often, the family would find Terry reading about one of her favorite subjects, the Civil War, or watching Westerns on TV. She enjoyed “her kids” the cats, and other farm animals, and she liked to draw, especially proud of her rendition of Jesus. Her zest for independence was even displayed in her desire to drive, although she couldn’t operate a car, she was skilled at operating her moped.
Terry lost her best friend and mentor when her mother, Margaret, passed away in 1999, and recently her loving father, Forrest, passed away Dec. 22, 2019.
Terry will be dearly missed by three brothers, Dennis (Verna) Schave of Morrison, Reverend Todd (Cindy) Schave of Omaha, Nebraska, and David (Marilyn) Schave of Elburn; many nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles.
A family memorial service will be held with inurnment in Greenview Cemetery, East Moline.
The family wishes to thank the Lena Living Center and Hospice of Western Illinois for their loving care. Law-Jones Funeral Homes are humbly honored to serve the family, and you are invited to share in Terry’s life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
