Fulton Christmas Walk returns to downtown on Dec. 6 and 7

FULTON — Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Walk will be Dec. 6 and 7 in the city’s downtown.

The 15th annual 2-mile Illuminated Run/Walk will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 in the streets by de Immigrant Windmill. Registration is $19 by Nov. 29, and $25 from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6. Race-day registration is at 5:30 p.m. at Manny’s Too, 305 11th Ave. Line-up is at 11th Avenue and Fourth Street, and the finish line is at Manny’s. Also on Dec. 6, the official Lighting of the Leg Lamp will be at 6 p.m. at Johnny’s Tap, 1118 Fourth St. The band 3 on the Tree will play during the Ugly Sweater Sock Hop that night at Johnny’s.

Events held on Dec. 7 include Breakfast With Santa from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Fulton Fire Station, 1802 16th Ave., as well as Early American Crafters from noon to 7 p.m. at Heritage Canyon, 515 N. Fourth St., with crafts, treats, and an illuminated walk. Boy Scout Troop 117 will hold a soup supper by donation at KT3 Fitness, 912 Fourth St.

An old-fashioned Christmas celebration will be in the downtown from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with the Fulton Christmas Tree lit at 5 p.m. at the corner of 10th Avenue and Fourth Street. Caroling, a live nativity, hot beverages, cookies, live window displays and Christmas story reading will take place.

Volunteers are needed for the live nativity, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the northwest lawn of the old Drives building across from the windmill, at 111 10th Ave. Email Jude Holesinger at theholesingers@mchsi.com or 563-249-6115 to sign up or for more information.

The Windmill Cultural Center, at 111 10th Ave. will open at 10 a.m. Dec. 7, with items at the gift shop for purchase.

From 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7, Sinterklaas, the Dutch Santa Claus, will greet visitors with gold coins. A craft area at the center will have bell ornaments to decorate and take home.

Musical programs on Dec. 7 at the center include Linda Flikkema of Clinton, Iowa and her students performing from 5:15 to 5:30 p.m.; Clinton Community Children’s Choir, from 6 to 6:30 p.m.; and the Clintones, 39 women from Clinton, Camanche, and Goose Lake, Iowa, and Fulton and Morrison who sing at area care centers and community events.
