Rapp Street
Pumpkins were rolling down a hill Saturday during the annual pumpkin race in Mt. Carroll. The gourds were decked out with decorations and were meant to roll down the hill in a vehicle built by the competitors.
That did not always work out as planned. Some of these unmanned vehicles crashed into the curb, other vehicles or just fell over, leaving the pumpkin to roll
down the hill.
Some of the pumpkins did not survive the hill intact. The race was more than just for bragging rights; cash prizes were awarded. The event was part of the Pumpkin Fest.
