Mt. Carroll fire and ambulance and Pink Heals visit Nan Buss

A large group of family, friends, and members of the Pink Heals organization, along with members of the Mt. Carroll Fire Department and Mt. Carroll Ambulance gave Nan Buss the ultimate surprise on Sunday at her home in Mt.Carroll.

Buss, a longtime resident of the town, is battling colon cancer, and is in the throes of treatment.

A large procession of fire trucks, ambulances, cars, and the pink ambulance arrived into town sirens blaring, offering out hugs, words or encouragement, and gifts to Buss.

Pink Heals is a volunteer program that provides love and support to those fighting cancer in the area.

“The Pink Heals Tour is about our community, our family, our neighbors, and our leaders and how it will help bring us back together to focus on one another,” said founder Dave Graybill on the groups web page.

The tour operates by the sale of merchandise, gifts, local sponsorship and in kind donations to maintain vehicles, buy gas, and travel to visit individuals who are fighting cancer.
