Lanark Hometown Days to celebrate Eastland homecoming

LANARK – Lanark Hometown Days will be Oct. 3, with activities across the city to mark Eastland High School's homecoming events.

Twice-Sold Tales Used Books and More will give away free books from noon to 5 p.m. in front of Lanark Public Library, 111 S. Broad St., while Friends of the Lanark Public Library will sell gift certificates for the group's annual Pie Across the Fence fundraiser on Nov. 1 and 2.

Also at the library, a representative of Illinois' ICash program will help visitors search for unclaimed money and property from 3 to 5 p.m. Master Gardeners will speak from 4 to 5 p.m. on fall garden clean-up and preparing for next year's plantings.

The Lanark Chamber of Commerce's Tailgate Cookout with pork chops, brats and other dishes will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 106 S. Broad St., to help raise funds for scholarships for Eastland students.

The homecoming parade will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on East Pearl Street, then go north on Broad Street, then east on Carroll Street before finishing. A pep rally will follow the parade, at Eastland Junior-Senior High School, 500 School Drive.
