MOUNT CARROLL – Timber Lake Playhouse recently received $95,755.58 in grant money from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Tourism.
Charity Green with the DCEO said in a news release that Timber Lake will use the money to winterize its theater.
Dan Danielowski, Timber Lake’s executive director, said in an email that work will start immediately, with plans to have the majority of the lobby enclosed and a new heating, air conditioning and ventilation system in place by July 1.
The theater will receive a new dual heating and cooling system, while six 10-inch-wide sliding pocket glass doors will be installed in the lobby.
Danielowski said the grant money is half of the cost, which comes to about $191,500.
“TLP has to raise $95,755.58 as a match to the grant. We have already secured a donor who will match donations up to $100,000. So for every dollar donated to TLP capital projects, it will raise $2 for TLP,” Danielowski said.
Donations can be called in to the box office at 815-244-2035, or mailed to Timber Lake Playhouse, 8215 Black Oak Road, Mount Carroll, IL, 61053. Put “Fund The Need” in the memo line of checks.
