CHADWICK – Roger G. Hartman, age 70, of Rock Falls, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Church. Burial with military rites will take place at 10:30 a.m., Monday March 4, 2018 in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling, Illinois. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Roger was born May 18, 1948 to Glen and Margaret (Queckboerner) Hartman in Sterling, Illinois. He played basketball and baseball at Chadwick High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1966. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick.
Roger enlisted into the United States Army in 1966 and served time in Vietnam in the Firefighter Battalion. When he returned, he worked at GE in Morrison and later as a guard at the Dixon Illinois Correctional Center for over 25 years.
Roger enjoyed sporting events – especially basketball, from high school to college. He also enjoyed eagle watching in Fulton, Illinois and traveling to our neighboring states with Jackie. He especially loved visiting Wisconsin.
Roger is survived by a special friend, Jackie Fecht and her granddaughter, Morgan; a sister, Jan Marie (Ray) Appel; brother Thomas (Ruth) Hartman; son Michael (Tejal) Berschinski, and his daughters, Adelyn and Keira; many nieces and nephews, and one aunt. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Margaret, and a nephew.
