THOMSON – The Thomson Depot Museum Committee recently elected new officers for the coming year.
Elected were Lawrence and Luanne Bruckner, co-presidents; Val DeSpain, vice president; Angie Despain, secretary; Vicky Trager, treasurer; and directors Jan Bristol for 1 year, Lewis Frosch for 2 years, and Roberta Sikkema for 3 years.
DeSpain, Bristol and Frosch were appointed to the maintenance committee, with two other slots remaining to fill. Briston and Bruckner were named to the publicity committee. Donna Diephuis was named to landscaping and groundskeeper. Frosch was named to the host-hostessing committee, with others to be asked. Trager, Bristol, and Luanne Bruckner were named to grant writing, with Lawrence Bruckner assisting.
Depot Days will take place Sept. 21 this year, with outhouse races approved. Community input will be requested.
Grants and foundations were discussed, with an eye toward repairing the bathroom wall and siding and painting in the spring.
The committee also plans to catalog and review all gifts and loans, verifying and updating all information this year. Digitizing of information will be examined. Shelves will be purchased for the school display in the back of the museum.
Committee members set 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Thomson Village Hall, 2100 Market St., as their time and date to meet.
The next meeting will be Feb. 12. Discussion will include the layout, event planning and fundraising for Depot Days. Volunteers are needed; email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Trager at the village hall, 815-259-3700.
