STOCKTON – Mary Lorraine Downs, 98, formerly of Lanark, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at Waverly Place in Stockton.
She was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Savanna, to her parents, William and Bertha (Goodmiller) Endress. She was a 1938 graduate of Stockton High School. She married Harlan Lambert Downs on Sept. 8, 1942, in Canton, Missouri. Mary was a member of First Brethren Church in Lanark, and the WRC (Women’s Relief Corps).
Survivors include her children, Gary (Jerry) Downs of Lanark, Karen (Harry) McKnight of Byron, Sharon (the late Jim) Sarles and Alan (Dolores) Downs of Stockton, Cheryl Siron of Staunton, Virginia, and Tami (Larry) Tyner of Beavercreek, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan; her son, Dale; two sisters; and four brothers.
The funeral was Saturday at First Brethren Church in Lanark. Interment was at Lanark Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the activities of the nursing home in Stockton and First Brethren Church in Lanark.
