MOUNT CARROLL – Wilma Pauley, 90, of Mount Carroll, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society – Mount Carroll.
Wilma was born May 13, 1927, in Mount Carroll, the daughter of Glen and Mary (Zillhart) Edwards. She attended Lanark High School, graduating with the Class of 1945. On April 18, 1948, Wilma married Elmer Pauley. They celebrated 52 years of marriage until Elmer’s passing in 2000.
Wilma was a gourmet and restaurant cook for 37 years in the Mount Carroll area, until retiring in 1989. She was a member of Junior Women’s Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, Mount Carroll Church of God, and the Women’s Christian Service Club. Wilma loved serving her community by volunteering her time at the food pantry, and helping with mobile meals and food drives. In honor of veterans, she sold poppies every Memorial Day.
Wilma will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Dana (Ron) Rogers of Lanark and Marna Pauley of Freeport; a son, Allen (Linda) Pauley of Highland Village, Texas; three grandchildren, Erin (Chad) Lamm, Marques (Alyssa) Pauley and Kent Pauley; a great-granddaughter, Ellen Lamm; a great-granddaughter “on-the-way,” Aubriana Pauley; a brother, the Rev. Herbert Edwards of Warren, Indiana; and a sister, Doris (Kenneth) Geisz of Lanark.
Wilma also was preceded in death by both parents, Glen and Mary; her brother, Laverne (Merna) Edwards; and sister-in-law, Ruth Edwards.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Mount Carroll Church of God. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mount Carroll.
