STERLING – Breakfasts and programs are planned May 3 throughout the Sauk Valley for this year's National Day of Prayer.
This year's theme is "Pray for America – UNITY," referring to Ephesians 4:3, "Making every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.
The scheduled events are:
n Dixon: 6 p.m., Dixon Riverfront Ampitheater on South Hennepin Avenue; and 6 p.m., Turning Point CITI Church, 944 Stony Point Road.
n Lanark: 7 p.m., Lanark United Methodist Church, 405 E. Locust St.
n Mount Carroll: Carroll County NDP service, noon, Carroll County Courthouse, 301 N. Main St. In case of rain, it will be at Mount Carroll Church of God, 816 S. Clay St.
n Rock Falls: Mayor's breakfast, open to the public, 8 a.m., Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 Eighth Ave., and service, 6 p.m., City of God Church, 530 W. Rock Falls Road.
n Shannon: 9 a.m., Shannon Baptist Church, 101 N. Broad St.; midday prayer, 12:30 p.m., Bethel United Methodist Church, 217 S. Hickory St.
n Savanna: 2 p.m., Big Meadows Nursing Home, 1000 Longmoor Ave.
n Sterling: prayer breakfast, 6:30 a.m., New Life Lutheran Church, 702 W. Lynn Blvd.
n Thomson: 10 a.m., York Community Church, 2301 state Route 84
