FREEPORT – Stephenson County Coroner Tim Leamon recently endorsed Republican candidate Steve Fricke for the 89th District state representative primary on March 20.

Fricke, of Freeport, is running for the seat after current 89th District Rep. Brian Stewart, R-Freeport, announced his candidacy for the state Senate, with next year’s retirement of current State Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon. The district includes Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties, as well as parts of Carroll, Ogle, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties.

Freeport Alderman Andrew Chesney also is seeking the party’s nomination.

Fricke is a third-generation farmer from German Valley, current president of the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, and a current Stephenson County Board member. He and his wife, Kim, have two children and four grandchildren.
