ROCK FALLS – David A. “Dave” Norman, 40, of Rock Falls, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, surrounded by his family, after a 13-month battle with brain cancer. He was at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
David was born Jan. 5, 1977, the son of Ron and Bonnie (Zink) Norman of Chadwick. During his life, Dave worked in manufacturing, most recently at P&P Industries in Sterling. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and morel mushroom hunting. He played drums, and formed a band with his brother, Tom, and their friends. He was a Chicago Cubs fan, but his passion was Ford Mustangs. Dave was a man always concerned about his family and others. Although he admitted he had pain, his family never heard him complain as he struggled to fight the glioblastoma.
Survivors include his son, Jonathon; girlfriend, Christine Boone; his parents; brothers, Tom Norman and Tim (Marion Wilkins) Nye; sister, Tina (Bob Breitbach) Updike; uncles, Ron (Phyllis) Zink, Mike (Lois) Norman; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David was registered as an organ donor. His cremains will be buried next to his maternal grandparents, Merle and Dorothy Zink. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, with a celebration of life from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Chadwick Evangelical Free Church, 134 Main St.
