Savanna Rotarian receives honor for volunteerism

SAVANNA – The Rotary Club of Savanna recently named Ed Bochniak of Galena as this year's Service Above Self award recipient.

The award recognizes an individual from the Savanna area for their volunteer work. Bochniak began in 2010 as the executive director at the Carroll County Housing Authority, and joined the Savanna Rotary in the same year, becoming treasurer.

Bochniak is a member of Carroll County Triad, serves on the boards for Great River Outreach and Business Employment Skills Team Inc., and represents Carroll County as a board member of the Illinois Association of Housing Authorities. He recently established a food pantry at Mest Manor in Savanna. Bochniak serves on the Galena Zoning Board, and has been involved in the Galena Lions Club, St. Michael Parish, and coaching several youth activities.
