OREGON – A former Ogle County state’s attorney is among a group of five lawyers who have applied to fill a 15th Judicial Circuit associate judgeship that will open when John F. Joyce retires Sept. 1.
Michael C. Rock, of Oregon, who was state’s attorney for a year, has applied for the position.
The other applicants are Michelle B. Buckwalter-Schurman, of Morrison; Tina J. Coffey, of Dixon; Anthony V. Coon, of Freeport; and John J. Kane, of Mount Carroll.
Rock, who was appointed state’s attorney in January 2013, lost the job to Eric Morrow in the March 2014 GOP primary.
Joyce, 69, was appointed in 2001.

The 15th serves Stephenson, Lee, Ogle, Carroll and JoDaviess counties. The 14th serves Whiteside, Rock Island, Henry and Mercer counties.
